Story
It was Sept 11th, 2001. We were in Italy living and healing from the loss of our son just months before. We were on the coast in Cinque Terra ready to just chill for the day when we hiked to the parking lot to get supplies and the parking attendant who knew we were American. He told us the news of that morning as it was unfolding. We saw on live TV in a coffee bar the scene as the 2nd plane flew into the tower. I was dazed and disoriented. We were a days drive from our Italian home and felt we needed to go there to collect ourselves and contact family. There were no communications coming or going in or out of America. For the next month Italian TV ran every possible aspect of the story and with panels of people from all walks of life and professions to try and make sense of that day.
I felt I needed to write a song, a tribute to the families and victims who experienced that loss. Three days later it came to me. I have since recorded it. a very raw version. It is on the 12 song CD that is named "Un Altro Giorno" which means another day in Italian. That CD I made as a gift to take back to Italy and give to friends and family there. Here you can listen to the whole song
This song is a tribute to America on that day and a mirror of my sadness for my own loss of my step son Elijah R Sabia (June 1977-March 2001).
